Description
How would a Zen monk see Christianity?
The be-all and end-all of Zen is to make you believe in yourself, your truth, your abilities, your natural response to things, and your own divinity and to have perfect faith in your true self and your beliefs and to end all the seeking, all self-doubt, all weakness, all fear, and all imposter syndrome in every situation, no matter how serious, how grim, how painful, or how confusing or daunting the situation might be in this life and hereafter—if you believe such a thing exists. That’s it, baby! And if you claim to have an unshakeable confidence in yourself and your abilities, then I have nothing left to teach you. You’re a bodhisattva here and now.
Now even if you are not a Buddhist, and let’s say you’re a Christian, wouldn’t such a thing be very useful to you? To have complete faith in God, in Christ, or in whatever you choose to believe in? To have no doubts, no fears creeping in and sneaking up on you even once in a while. Unlike psychotherapy, Zen promises a transformation instantly. What would take 33 years could happen in 3 seconds. That’s the promise of Zen
